Web Hosting
Website hosting is accomplished by loading your designed Website onto a dedicated server. We use a dedicated server in order to maintain data security and allow the transfer of 'secure' data.
All data is sent encrypted which protects information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, addresses and phone numbers from being accessed by anyone other than yourself, the site administrator and any related credit card processing firms that are assigned access rights to the site and any databases used in association with your site.
In order to publish a Website, you need to have a 'distinct' domain name. This domain name is merely the 'address' where your Website lives on the World Wide Web. To access your Website, users type in your domain name in the browser their computers use, and your Website is displayed on their monitors.
The reason your domain name must be distinct is to prohibit Websites from having the same address on the Web. Domain names are assigned and managed by a number of different registration providers and is a relatively simple process. Just like creating trademarks for a business, other companies may already be using the name you would prefer to use; therefore, be prepared to submit a few alternate names to assure you obtain a domain name and address that will meet your needs.
We will register your domain name for you and maintain ownership of the name as long as you remain a client of Stedman Computer Designs. The price for registering your domain name is very minimal and we offer it 'at-cost'. We don't feel we need to make a profit on a standard operating cost such as this.
Simply publishing your Website isn't the answer to all your business problems; however, our server packages offer a number of enhancements that will provide solutions to many of your marketing and advertising needs. A few of these are email addresses that can be set up to provide each of your employees a separate email address, a shopping cart for users to purchase your products online, or even 'Pay-Pac' which allows users to submit credit card transactions online while providing a secure/encrypted method of sending financial or personal information.
Once we have designed your Website, we can have your Website up and online in just a few days. Design time will vary depending on the content and complexity of your requirements, but the average Website can be designed and published within a week after we reach a contractual agreement.
All design costs, domain registration fees and hosting fees (yearly) are payble in advance. If you're not completely satisfied with your Website, we'll provide Website Maintenance to make any necessary changes and keep your Website current and up-to-date by adding new information, changing dates or just changing your business phone or address when you move.
